FARGO, N.D. – It was another record-breaking Giving Hearts Day, a 24-hour fundraising event benefitting nearly 500 charities throughout North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. Charities raised a preliminary figure of $19,087,916 from 34,565 donors – approximately $3 million and 4,000 more donors than in 2019.
Unaudited figures indicate that 75,590 total donations were made, an increase of 7,825 donations from 2019, respectively. Giving Hearts Day charities have now raised $90 million since the event’s inception in 2008. Official giving statistics and details will be released after all data is verified.
The Anne Carlsen Center became the second charity to eclipse the $1 million mark, raising just under $1.5 million.
Preliminary top five charities in small-, medium-, and large-budget categories are listed in alphabetical order. Rankings and totals are pending audit.
Annual operating budget $250,000 or below:
Amistad Worlwide, Cats Cradle Shelter, F5 Project, Jamestown Regional Medical Center Foundation, Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue
Annual operating budget $250,001–$999,999:
Haley’s Hope, Jail Chaplains, RiverView Foundation, St. Gianna’s Maternity Home, Women’s Care Center
Annual operating budget $1 million or above:
Anne Carlsen Center, New Life Center, Oak Grove Lutheran School, TNT Kid’s Fitness & Gymnastics, YWCA Cass Clay
Giving Hearts Day is hosted by Dakota Medical Foundation, Impact Foundation, and the Alex Stern Family Foundation.
